I feel bad for anyone who bought on '10 GT unsure.gif

412hp out of a 5.0L motor sounds pretty impressive at first. Until you realize BMW did it 10yrs ago biggrin.gif

Still, although I've never been much of a Ford fan I admit they did a really nice job with this motor. All aluminum, deep skirt block, cross bolted mains, 4 valves per cylinder, variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust cams, 7000rpm redline, etc. That's alot of sweet technology at Mustang level prices. The muscle car wars are well and truly on again.

I found some videos of the new motor in action:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlR8hbpkHkw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwvLEx10KgE

Lastly, the best 5.0 video of all:

I know, I'd be PISSED OFF if I had bought a 2010!! Are those Brembo calipers part of the "track pack" I assume?

Here is the offical press release. They don't call it a "track pack" but I assume thats what it really is.

http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=31645

A Brembo brake package upgrade will be available for serious enthusiasts. This package includes 14-inch vented front discs from the GT500 Mustang, unique 19-inch alloy wheels and summer performance tires.

I hope the standard brakes are bigger than 11.5" though. The front rotors on my E46 are bigger and it has less than half the power.

Why the excitement over a car that only goes 25 miles per hour? Thats not even a safe highway speed. rolleyes.gif

Are you guys serious? Only 412 hp! Porsche gets 450 hp out of a 3.8L six. Non-turbo. Granted you have to spend $135K on a GT3 RS to get it, but at least you are getting some new technology.

And the videos don't really help your case either. It seems its a ladies car if you notice the women driving the car in the first vid and Vanilla Ice as a spokes person for the 5.0? If you want a real Mustang you have to go to Roush or Shelby for a real pony car.

They do go faster than 25 mph!!!

The GT3 RS is one hot Beatle! drool.gif Just look at what the Beatle evolved into. The Mustang has evolved back to the beginning in its appearance. And to have the Mustang II in its lineage is no shinning moment.

Yes, I would buy a Mustang over the Camaro, maybe even the Dodge. Actually if someone gave me one I would take it, but it would be a nice down payment for a Porsche. If I could only find a Porsche as fast as my Miata!

Yeah, as a former F-body owner I'll probably get disowned for saying this but I'd buy a Mustang over a Camaro right now too. Nothing wrong with the Camaro as a street car but its gotten too bloated for my tastes. The Mustang is 200-300lbs lighter and now it has the power to match.

Alright, STOP, collaborate & listen... LOL

The new Stang powerplant is very sweet--the car is a very nice overall package--bravo Ford!

I like the Camaro more & more every time I see it--but Jason is right--it's too heavy. If the car weighed ~3500#, it would be a formidable pkg... Especially w/ the LPE TVS blower (same as the ZR1) pkg--the cars make ~620 rwhp w/ the setup drool.gif

It all really depends on why you are buying the car. Are you getting it to autocross? Are you getting it for "spirited driving around town" (especially on ramps rolleyes.gif )? Are aesthetics equally important as (if not more than) performance? Do you want to go faster than 25 mph on the highway?

With all of that taken into consideration I'll take the Camaro Z28 over the Mustang or the bloated-looking Mopar offerings. I'll likely never own one, but that is not part of this conversation. dry.gif

And Ford REALLY, REALLY needs to do something about that speed limiter.

Don't listen to them Ryan. They just dont get it.

The problem with my old mustang was.....I sold it. I took it to the track a few times. With the "crappy" ford suspension, the car felt beautiful. I love every part of it. I can't watch these videos, as I am lustful. My favorite song is Queen's "Fat bottomed girls".

If only Ford had figured out a proper rear suspension by this time I think I could be tempted. The Camero is UGLY crazy.gif fat PIG. The Challenger looks better but is still a fat PIG. IMHO unsure.gif
