I know it's been mentioned by a few people here. I need to get some work done - mom backed into my RF fender, clearcoat on hood is burning off, and front bumper is full of rock chips. What's everyone's opinion of them? The more details the better!

I thought I had replied to this already. I no longer recommend D&G. They've gotten so busy that it will take forever to get your car back. Gary is getting burnt out and his helpers don't really impress me. My paint job will be going back. Gary told me to bring it back and he'd touch it up and make it right. I'm thinking it might even just need to be redone. But I don't want to think about that right now. He's a great guy and wants to do a fabulous job but it just not happening for me yet.

I ended up taking my car there afterall. I was very impressed with him from the beginning, so I figured I'd give it a try. I let him know how concerned I was since I've had problems everywhere else I've taken it, so he made sure to keep me up to date on how it was going. He also called me and told me to come down there so I could personally see the prep work. He said he wouldn't move on to painting unless I was satisfied with the prep work, and I was. The final product looks great. There are a few very minor flaws, but nothing I can't deal with - especially for the price.
Chuck, I thought I should also let you know that I did bring up your situation with him. I was careful not to say your name or the car I was referring to though. Basically, I just said that I had a friend who got his car back with some drips on it, and he immediately said, "Red camaro?" I also never mentioned that I autocrossed with Martin, so he couldn't have made the connection that way. That gave me some peace of mind - seems like your incident might be isolated.
Also as I said before in another thread, the guy who did my front bumper before did a horrible job, and anything that hit it caused the paint to chip off. That guy has since packed up and left all his "customers" hung out to dry, but Gary still talked to the necessary people and got me a $100 reimbursement for my problems at the previous place. I didn't even have the receipt - he really went out of his way on that one, and that impressed me as well.
He also understood that I am a semi-poor college student with a limited budget. I tried to do as much work myself as possible - replacing the fender (he found a replacement for me, I installed it), removing the front bumper) and he didn't turn up his nose at that like some other places do. A lot of other places exaggerate the time it takes to remove panels and what not and make a lot of money that way. His numbers were pretty accurate, so he was still getting money proportational to the time he'd put in on my car.
The paint looks great - very deep, shiney, and smooth. It's not totally spotless but I'm very happy. He's a very honest guy, atleast to me, and I think he feels bad about your experience, Chuck. I think he saw my job as an opportunity to attempt to clear up any negativity towards his company within the club. He's got my vote now, but we'll see if that changes as the paint gets miles on it...

I'm glad your experience was a positive one. Like I said he wants to do a good job but he has had a lot of personal setbacks over the past few months and I think a lot of that stems from the help he employs. He is a nice guy. I like him personally. I'm my car will eventually get taken care of properly. But for right now he's still swamped with work even though it looks like he's catching up. I may recommend him again once he gets back on track. But I just wasn't gonna make any recommendations for him right now.
