I had a friend ask me, "what did you PAX"?
Does MSCC use this type of scoring? If so, how would I figure out my PAX?
I run in G-Stock if it matters.

Thanks,

Scott

No PAX at Martin. We don't have enough cars to calculate an accurate PAX multiplier for each class and we can't use the SCCA's because our car classing is different.

Pax is a Handicap system designed to essentially take the car out of the equation and compare driver vs driver. It's very nice because even though it's not perfect it is accurate enough to let you know how your doing overall. It allows you to compare you times to other peoples times even though you might be in completely different vehicles in different classes. It's a BIG help for those wanting to get faster but don't have anyone fast locally to compete aginst.

If you would like to go through the trouble of figureing out how you stacked overall (via PAX) you can look at cars and see what SCCA class they would go to and then use the pax index on their time and figure where you would have staked up.

Link to SCCA Pax index. (keep in mind SCCA G-Stock gets to use Race tires)

***********Just like Ian stated, scca stock classes allows race tires, so that information about stock classes can not be transferred over.

So, how would one go about determining a figure, if using the SCCA PAX?

Here's an example

BP STI ran 27.500

GS Benzo ran 29.808

would it make sense to use the next class down like H-Stock for G-Stock since SCCA allows Race tires?

Thanks,

Scott

Ok the BP STi is legal for SCCA BSP , and your car I believe is an SCCA GS.

So the (BSP) STi ran a 27.500 * .843 = 23.18 sec time

You Ran a 29.808 * .794 = 23.67 sec time

So it was close. However Neither car was prepped to the proper level so the numbers are rather in accurate.

The good thing that you can see is your own progress (or lack of, but not likely). I ran with the scca a few times, and even though my car is not prepared, runs on street tires, it was good to see the difference. At first I was 7-9 seconds behind the pax champ, but diring the year it closed down to 4 1/2 to 5 seconds. One thing with the pax rating its possible to have the lowest class car have the overall event win. Sometimes even the ttd (slicks are allowed, likely expected, at scca---driving up the costs of racing for sure). Hey that wasnt too wormie, was it?
