Covering all the bases, eh George? Travis is running Hoosiers and you are running Kumhos?

I predict George will be donning a new jacket at the next meeting! No pressure.

Yeah you look down the list and SM is a bit light on the big big hitters this year. I predict (depending on course design) it comes down to George, Vic , and Chris travis.

If it's got a bunch of point and shoot stuff George will have it in the bag. If it's a momentum course Chris Travis will probably take it. If it's mostly sweepers Vic will probably get it.

Darn. Live timing and scoring does not appear to be working. Jason and Terry are probably done by now but I don't want to call them in case things got running late for some reason. Ian'Pete, post if you hear how they did. I will do likewise.

BTW, I think my second cousin Jarrod Hoops running in another Evo might be in the mix in SM. He got third last year, coming from back in the pack with a time on the second day that was barely off Daddio's as I recall and he has been doing well at events this year. George should deinitley be one of the contenders. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Per should be running in GS today too I believe as well as the Meredith's in STX.

Looks like the weather should be nice all week. If only it was like this for the pro.

On a side note (something I was curious about), it looks like the 2008 Cobalts are holding their own in DS like I thought they might.. no one believed they could hang with the Integras and there they are, holding 2nd and 5th currently, with very little development time.

Cobalts are no joke..... deffently a big step up from the previous gen. You should see them in T3.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the well wishes and thinking about us.

My story today was of two botched runs, followed by the obligatory "safe" to keep me viable. We were running on the East Course today, which is basically a typical Deland course with a dog-leg in it.

My first run, I was about the 6th car on the course, and at about 50 degrees, I was running on rocks. All the same, I was doing pretty well until I got to the turn-around. I was looking ahead and caught the turn-around exit cone, and nailed the turn-around entry outside cone (a cone I'd passed in my mind a few seconds before) dead center of the bumper. When I say dead center, I mean right between the two C's in the SCCA decal Hoop has there. I couldn't believe it, and the surprise made me miss the braking point, and go in to the turn-around way to deep. I picked another cone somewhere else for a total of two, but despite the mistakes, I had a decent opening time.

My second run, the tires had some heat in them, so I thought I could attack the opening offset gates with a little more aggression, but I was wrong! I got completely sideways, and kept waggling the thing through the first three gates. After that, I had a pretty fast run and nailed most of the sections, with the exception of the final Chicago box, where I had to lift to miss the third cone, and compromised a pretty long finish straight. Clean! But the time was a second off my first time, and almost two seconds off the front runners.

My third run was pretty mediocre, as I had to be "safe". It was my fastest run of the day, and clean, but only good enough for 13th of 29. I left a little time everywhere, with a lot of small mistakes, and nothing big.

I'm 6 tenths out of the trophies. Not easy to make up, but possible. Two seconds out of first makes that a pipe-dream. Good news? Tomorrow's course should favor our car.

The East Course definitely did not favor our car, and we're hoping to do better tomorrow.


As for Jason, I'll let him give you the details, but I think it boils down to he drove too tentatively. His first run was a throw away, as he got scary behind in the long slalom. His other two runs were just not up to his abilities. FWIW, I was probably fairly guilty of tentative driving as well.

The FSL crowd was a case of who could get 2nd, as one lady was running times competitive with the open class, and the rest were all within a small margin disregarding cones. Patsy had minor cone troubles, and had to be safe on her final run as well. She ended up being 4th of 6. She's not feeling well tonight, and I hope she's able to run tomorrow.

Milka had MAJOR cone troubles, and is dead last, despite pretty decent times.


Another CFR member and frequent MSCC attender was John Ward. I haven't seen his times, but he had engine trouble, and only made his first two runs.

I saw George and Travis for a few minutes tonight. I took them for a course walk and gave them my perceptions of the course.

Yeah, he reported on SCCA forums that he lost the engine in the car. A real shame because he busted his tail to get there after losing the first engine a few weeks ago...

Ouch! Just read his post. I guess the engine let go again. That sucks. Hopefully a competitor will at least let him jump in their car on Day 2 as a tire warmer.

Anybody got updates from today..... Jesse was only .068 out of his 1st jacket. I'd put money down that he got it!

Per hasn't made his runs yet but is sitting 6th after yesterday.

Terry and Jason finished 10th and 11th respectively in FS just out of the trophies (doh!). Strano wins again

I was talking to Travis tonight and he said that Patsy got sick yesterday--that was about all he said.

Patsy got some kind of a bug; we beleive the flu, and didn't get out of bed. By the evening she was feeling chipper enough to go to the banquet, but she's still not 100%.

Most of the results have already been listed. The A-Stock battle was extremely entertaining. There were alot of top drivers involved. Early in the first run, Tommy Pulliam was in the lead, and I think he might have retaken it during his 2nd run. But then, Greg went in to the lead with his 2nd run, only to be passed by Jeff Janzen about a minute later. I was handing out time slips on that heat, and curiously, every driver's hand was shaking as they grabbed their slip from me.

On the third run, nobody took the lead from Janzen, but Greg had dropped to 4th or 5th place. He went out and put in a near perfect run, and bettered his time by almost 2 tenths, putting himself into the lead. By that time, only Janzen had a chance. Watching his run, he had a major bobble in the "wall" section, which I immediately decided was the end. He then totally lost it in the feature turn, and the game was Greg's.

As for our situation, Jason and I both drove considerably better today. Still not good enough for a trophy or better, but much better than yesterday. Had we driven this well yesterday, I believe we both would have been in the trophies. I ended up 10th, and Jason ended up 11th. Jason was actually 3 thousandths faster than me today, although I ended up on top for the two day total.

BTW, today's course was MUCH funner than yesterday's course. I wish we had a lot where we could do today's course (the west course) for a local event; it was awesome.

Alrighty, I looked at the early thrusday west course results..... still nothing on SM2 or SM. (run groups 3 and 4).

i think the east and west on the video might be mix up cuase looking at the course map that was post here it looks like east is west but i might be wrong and yah if the video is right the east course is not the awd friendly course specailly with that middle corner push that the evo has.

God, I can't take the waiting. Next year I'm going just so I can see the results in a timely manor.
