Hey guys, need your help again...

Anyone know what the best body-shop in Orlando is? I need some major repairs done; got rear-ended by a fire truck... Anyway, I need a place that has quality written all over it...

Thanks

Well, I like Auto Body of Orlando.

They are next door to Orlando Mazda and Subaru on OBT (ex Star Mazda) and the entrance is right next door to Tijuana Flats.

they deal with Subies and Mazdas and having worked at the dealer as a service advisor, I can say their work is top notch to the point I'm taking my wagon there to fix the front end as well either this week or the next.

BTW, saw you yesterday at the CFR Solo. I drool.gif with the gold heat wrap. laugh.gif

HAHA, I'm not really into gold... biggrin.gif
But it does its job... I'll be swapping out the top mount for a front mount after the car gets repaired...

I was checking your car out too... I like whats been done... Love those wheels!!

Also, waiting for the rear Brembos to even thing out. biggrin.gif

They do great work. They have done work for a lot of Mini owners all with good comments. It is a small shop which can be good. Any way give them a call or stop by and talk to them.

Good Luck

Leo, when were you thinking about getting the torques? Is your Legacy 5x114.3 like my STi? Reason I ask is that I have a set of 17" x 8.5" Rota SlipStreams that I may be interested in selling in a few months, maybe Summer...they're the dark gun metal gray and are practically new.

Would they fit a Mazdaspeed 3...? biggrin.gif drool.gif

Off the bat, no, the LegGT s 5x100 like the WRX and 04 STi.

Running 18x8 with 225/45 tire right now and they are flush with the fender.

I'm not sure??? What is your car's bolt pattern and what offset would you need?

Leo, no problem...I didn't know what bolt pattern the Legacy used.

I was way more than pleased with Don Hosler in Longwood. If you'd like to see his work just say so and I'll drive the wife's Fiero and let you see it. It's amazing! Better than original hands down!
racerx13
I'll agree with Chuck's comment about Don. Plus it would be supporting a club member, which is alway a good thing. Need to see his work????
Check out my Miata #13 at the next event ! ! !
If I was able to post a picture of it I would . . . Maybe Ryan (who lives on this website - smilielol.gif ) can post one for me.

Hey, Titan referred me to Samuels too... But they are a little out of the way...

I've decided to take the car where-ever the insurance recommended (Central FL Collision Center) since I'll be getting rid of it ASAP anyway.

If I was going to keep it, I would have been more picky...

So, what car will you be running when you sell of the MS3? wink.gif
AutoXRacer
I have no idea...

I was thinking about a Mustang, but when I drove one at Greenway Ford, brand new 2007 Shelby GT (stock engine with an intake), it was a cow...slow as hell... It was like driving a Corolla but with beautiful exhaust sound. I tried merging onto 417 and had to wait to pass someone. It didn't even chirp the tires...

So that made me scratch off Mustangs off the list. Damn, I thought they were more peppy than that.

With my MS3, I was able to instantly pass any car...

The only other car that stood out that I've test driven lately was a 2008 STi Rally Car (at least thats what the dealer called it). It was gorgeous drool.gif !!!!
It drove like a dream!!!! I would have seriously traded in for that one...but $40K is a little too rich for my blood.... sad.gif

I might look for a used car, maybe this buying new cars thing is not the way to go.
If used, I'd look for a 2005-2006 CTS-V.
jhue75
Might still need Don to look at the front end of the MR2. We'll see, i might try to do just a quick fix with a heat gun and some blocks of wood, and some auto part store repair specials.
jhue75
Whoa.....i just read your above post. The Mustang S/GT slow? Um.......
I dont even know what to say about that..... blink.gif

I would post some of my results for autox here, but that kind of thing goes against my character. I want to defend the car, but Im not sure how with out looking like a jerk. Trust me, on a track day, the car is marvelous. And for the record, never had any issues passing, now if you left it in 5th ( a notoriously high gear for economy even on the new cars ) its going to be a dog.

I guess I'll just chalk it up that some people don't like the car, and thats ok. ( although picture me saying it as rock back and forth maniacly staring off into space saying it over and over....Its ok......he he .....its ok.... )
AutoXRacer
I loved the car inside and out... But it just didn't have any pull...or push you in your seat.

It was so bad that Kim was with me during the test drive and I was telling her how I felt about the car and she asked me, "did you floored it?"... I was like YEAH!!!! Didn't you notice? She said no... Maybe that was a bad apple?
It is a 2007 brand new... I guess its been sitting there for two years or so.

This is the one: http://greenwayford.com/New-Inventory.aspx...toryId=20244167

Maybe my car has spoiled me...when you floor mine, it throws you violently into your seat.
jhue75
Hmmm....you need to go ride with Greg and I when we bring it out to the next event. Shoot, ride with Milka once even, she's agressive enough with the throttle you'll be pushed into your seat. smile.gif
AutoXRacer
Do you know if they are governed at the dealers or if the ECU is governed for the first 500 miles till break-in?

I just remember the late 80s Mustang being a lot more peppy!! biggrin.gif

I think I'm going to test drive another one to compare. Maybe since that one has been sitting for a while it might have something wrong.
gshumaker
The Mustang GT is not going to pull like a z06 or probably your modded-out MS3, but it does have a decent amount of grunt. Maybe like you said try one more car... Anyway, if you are looking for an auto-x car, there really isn't anything that much more fun to drive, IMHO. It is not the same joy one gets from slicing through the course in a short wheelbase car like an S2000 or an Elise, but it is a really fun car to drive aggressively and is very forgiving. The weaknesses of the car, IMHO are the ABS system and the hurst shifter (on the Shelby). The ABS system can just be ignored if you do proper threshold braking. And, the shifter (if you get a Shelby) well, you'll just have to get used to that if you don't like it. NOTE: I think Jason likes the shifter, so that is a matter of opinion. Also, tHe 2010 GT with the TrackPack oughta be nice, but the track pack won't be out til summer. I think the 2010 is coming out in March sometime. Will be interesting to see how that track pack plays out in F-stock.

Also, used C5 z06s are cheap now, BTW! wink.gif

Good luck with your decision Gerald. I imagine there are some really good deals on used cars out there right now.
ComposiMo
S2000 ftw! smile.gif

But yea, good luck in the search. If you are planning it for an autocross car, perhaps go in reverse, and pick a class you'd like to run in, and then choose a car from there based on what would be a good car for it...

Thats basically what i did... but it helped that i was a Honda fan anyway smile.gif
AutoXRacer
I'm looking for a dual purpose... First and foremost, daily driver, then fun/autocross car.

The GF wants the replace my old Miata... Even though I love that car (since I used to own one), I don't want to give Mazda business for the way they treated me...

Anyway, I totally lost...

New cars: Mustang, STi, WRX, 350Z, Camaro, Challenger...?
Used cars: CTS-V, Corvette, Elise, BMW...?

I don't know...
kabel
STI
WRX
CTS-V
GTR drool.gif

all are extremely autocross capable cars that are also great for a daily drivers.. well ecept for the CTS-V maybe, that one would be great on the track.

What dealer was that??

You can get 08's STi's for 0% interest which means 35K or so.Don't go for the BBS one as you can get lighter rims for the events. Last month they had 6K cash back on them plus the 0%. banghead.gif

This one is is good:

And for good deals, I wouldn't mind flying to Va and picking one up. stay tunned for updates:

Tell me ths don't look sick:

AutoXRacer
The one I saw at the dealers was a white one like the one above, with bronze strips and bronze wheels...maybe BBS wheels?

But the car was gorgeous... With discounts and all, it was $32-33K with 0% for 72 months. Still a little out of my price range.

With those hefty discounts on the 2008 STi I bet the used market for them has dropped a lot...that could be an option. But then again the 2009 WRX is also a great deal for the performance you get.

My '05 STi with my stock suspension was just fine as a daily driver...I used it for 1.5 years as a daily and loved it.

Plus, John and I want some more local BSP competition...so I say get an STi! smile.gif

Something HAD to have been wrong with that Mustang you test drove...I drove Jason's and it had plenty of grunt and was a blast to drive. It still has me thinking about a used 2010 GT (WITH the track pack) next year when they start hitting the used market. But Ford will probably come out with some special variants with more power that will be the hot ticket for F Stock. New Bullitt? Mach-1??

I read that the 2010 Shelby GT500 has the power of last year's KR!? I would be PISSED if I bought a 2009 GT500!
AutoXRacer
My jaw dropped with I saw all those KRs for $107,000 in the lot; they had like 7-8 of them just sitting there with cobwebs in the tailpipe and around the wheels...

I asked about a 30 year finance option...but they didn't think it was funny. I would have picked one up on the spot. biggrin.gif

How has your Porsche treated you...? I see they are not too expensive...though still out of my price range... I should wait and see what the lawyers come up with, maybe I'll have a nice down payment for one. biggrin.gif

Anyway, is cost of ownership unaffordable?

I've been seeing 2006-2007 Cayman S with 15,000 miles or so for $34-40,000!!!!

knock on wood my boxster has been very good to me, I must have gotten one of the sweet ones because I really have not had any of the major issues with it. Caymans are essentially the same car, very well handling ride for sure. Not sure where you would put you bike on either of those though!

It certainly is a buyers market out there right now,
jhue75
What a shame we are talking about this now. My car was up for sale last year.

Was negotiatable with a 2 set extra rims, a light weight set that people have offered me big money for because they dont make them anymore and Hoosier rains. Cars developed and had a few tour wins and podiums. ANd Ian and I proved we could be very competitive with it at DC ( Ian ) and Toledo (myself) respectively. ( with the wrong tires apparently.... )

As my good friend Pete Lier says, everythings for sale if the moneys right. biggrin.gif

Gerald,

I know the traction control is extremely intrusive on those cars. Was it on? Maybe that is part of the problem. No way will you even begin to spin tires in the Mustang with the traction control on. Like I said earlier, they are not uber-torquey like the GM LS* motors, but the car that slow.
jhue75
Im starting to wonder if you are leaving the traction control on.

As for issues with the car, I think in its stock trim its pretty capable on a drag strip. I mean, I have had my car on a track , at the drag strip and it has had the front of the car pretty tore up. Its been mis shifted, gears ground, but yet I think the cars still pretty stout.

I don't know man, turn that traction control off. Or come drive mine sometime when I get some street tires again. ( should be in a few weeks )

The new cars ( Bullitt ) should pull pretty well also.

jhue75
Ask Ryan Speaks or Chris Wells about the car. They drove my car in December.

Ryan seemed to talk highly about it. And he drives that boosted up monster Suby'.
