Popular belief is that most kids that come out of UTI are complete morons... that the kids weren't good enough students to get into college so their parents send them to technical school. The students do the bare minimum and don't get into any special programs (where they could get a decent job) and instead get out and become a lube tech at any place that will take them. Did I mention UTI is like $35k to attend?

That being said, we have an intern at work that goes to UTI. He is really squared away and has a 4.0 GPA at UTI and perfect attendance. He will get into a good program like BMW or Volvo (which are very selective) and get factory training. He is one of the exceptions that makes me think that UTI isn't that bad. UTI is what you get out of it.

And these kids in the picture aren't getting much out of UTI.
