Hi all,

I unfortunately ran over a screw this morning and punctured my tire. I have had my wheels repainted, so am a little worried my wheel will get chipped/scratched on the machine when they take the tire off.

I wondered if any of you guys knew anywhere that take real care with your wheels. I live in Oviedo, so anywhere not too far would be great.

Thanks,

Rich

Most modern mounting machines are pretty good at not leaving any evidence of being touched. Make sure the shop you go to truly understands how you feel about the care of your rims before you hand them over.

That said, I trust the guys at my local Discount Tire over here on Alafaya south of the 408 and Waterford lakes, not too far from Oviedo. If you can go in the morning you may catch the manager, John Bess. He is a real car guy that understands and should take care of you if you tell him what you want. If you end up going there tell him Kevin sent you. wink.gif

In my opinion, the person operating the machine has much more to do with it than the machine being operated.

I totally agree with Bert. From my own personal experience in the business, I have removed, mounted and balanced a lot of race tires and very low profile tires on wheels that the owner does not want a scratch on. I happened to learn entirely on doing low pro tires for my RX-7 and never even touched the average tire until i worked for a dealer, thats when I realized how easy the normal tires seem to me.. however, a tech who doesn't know the tricks or how to use the machine correctly can screw up a set of wheels in no time at all. with that said, the guys as discount tire stores usually do a pretty good job because they are usually trained in house and do a pretty good job. ... sorry this is probably kinda late, just input lol. hope i helped. smile.gif
